Children of Peace and Delight (Proverbs 29:17)

“Discipline your son, and he will give you peace; he will bring delight to your soul.” (Prov. 29:17)

Sound Advice (Proverbs 12:5)

“The plans of the righteous are just, but the advice of the wicked is deceitful.” (Prov. 12:5)

I often have the opportunity to give advice to people. For whatever reason, people tend to come to me (for better or worse!) to seek counsel, and if you take a look at your daily interactions and relationships, you may find yourself in the same situation. (more…)

The Rewards of Wisdom (Proverbs 2:9-11)

“Then you will understand what is right and just and fair- every good path. For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul. Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you.” (Prov. 2:9-11)

In Proverbs 2, God gives us very clear instruction on how to gain both godly wisdom, and reap the moral/spiritual benefits of it. Sometimes it helps me to see things in simplified lists, as it allows me to focus on practical application. (more…)

The Beginning of Knowledge (Proverbs 1:7)

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” (Prov. 1:7)

The book of Proverbs is clear on its intent, which is to impart wisdom for godly living. Many of the Proverbs are from King Solomon, who was known as the wisest man alive when God gave him the gift of wisdom. (more…)
