Stepping Stones (Joshua 8:6-7)

“They will pursue us until we have lured them away from the city, for they will say, ‘They are running away from us as they did before.’ So when we flee from them, you are to rise up from ambush and take the city. The Lord your God will give it into your hand.” (Joshua 8:6-7)

My wife’s battle against cancer has been a wonderful confirmation that God truly works all things together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28). It is but a step towards what He has already given into her hand. (more…)

Stand Up! (Joshua 7:10)

“The Lord said to Joshua, ‘Stand up! What are you doing down on your face?'” (Joshua 7:10)

We’re human. As strong as we want to be or hope to be, our emotions often get the best of us and we all have our “Woe is me…!” moments. The Victory Is Yours (Joshua 6:2-5)

“Then the Lord said to Joshua, ‘See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its kings and its fighting men. March around the city once with all armed men. Do this for six days. Have seven priests carry trumpets of rams horns in front of the ark. On the seventh day, march around the city seven times, with the priests blowing the trumpets. When you hear them sound a long blast on the trumpets, have all the people give a loud shout; then the wall of the city will collapse and the people will go up, every man straight in.'” (Joshua 6:2-5)

As a born-again Christian, there have been many times in my life where God has asked me to do things that made little sense to me at the time. (more…)

I Will Praise You In This Storm (Psalm 124:6-8)

“Praise be to the Lord, who has not let us be torn by their teeth. We have escaped like a bird out of the fowler’s snare; the snare has been broken, and we have escaped. Our help is in the name of the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” (Psa. 124:6-8)

Amen! God delivers his children from that which seeks to destroy us, whether they be earthly or spiritual enemies. David draws an analogy to a bird trapped in a snareā€¦ when we turn to the Lord, He makes a way out! (more…)
