God Is Patient… I Should Be Too (Judges 6:13)

I woke up this morning sort of frustrated, but God reminded me through His Word and His Spirit that He is sovereign and that all things happen in His timing and under His control.

I’m going to practice my own self-control and restraint in this post and not actually mention what was frustrating me, but the story of Gideon in Judges 6 definitely spoke to me in ways that reminded me that He is patient and gracious with us through all of our humanity, blindness, and ignorance. His Purpose > Our Plans (Proverbs 16:4, 19 & Proverbs 19:19)

“Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” (Prov. 19:19)

God is sovereign. He is in control of everything. Everything in creation moves at His direction, yet at the same time He gives us free will, that we may love Him according to our own heart. What a beautiful mystery! (more…)

For In You I Take Refuge (Psalm 16:1-2)

When I opened my Email this morning, the Daily Bible Verse I got from theDailyBibleVerse.org said:

“Keep me safe, my God, for in you I take refuge. I say to the Lord, ‘You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing.'” (Psa. 16:1-2)

Funny, because I also ran into these verses this morning before I even saw that Email:

“It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man.” (Psa. 118:8)

“Put not your trust in princes, in mortal man, who cannot save.” (Psa. 146:3) (more…)
