A Child’s Prayer For Justice

“Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.” (1 Timothy 4:12)

Today’s blog post won’t be my words, but my 12 year old daughter’s.

Before I tuck my kids into bed, we always take time praying together. Last night before she went to sleep I asked her, “Can you pray for the situation our country is in right now, and I’ll pray after you?”

I was so moved by her prayer that I jotted it down practically verbatim afterwards so I wouldn’t forget. Just as it gave me hope and encouragement in today’s climate of inequality, I pray it will do the same for you.

Let Not Your Heart Be Troubled

“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.” (John 14:1)

It’s so easy (and natural) to let this physical world and the circumstances around us dictate our level of confidence and peace. The COVID-19 pandemic is a perfect example of this, as for many this novel coronavirus is planting seeds of fear, anxiety, and despair in our hearts.

He Is Faithful

“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.” (Hebrews 10:23)

As I’ve grown older and have been able to experience so many different things in life, one of the truths I’ve learned is that outside of God, the only constant is change; the only thing of this world that is consistent, is inconsistency itself.

Crucified With Christ

“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20)

Some people like to call it their “B.C.” or “Before Christ” years, referring to the period of their life before coming to faith and salvation in Jesus. I remember mine, and it wasn’t pretty.
