He Is God, Not Man (Hosea 11:3-4)

“It was I who taught Ephraim to walk, taking them by the arms; but they did not realize it was I who healed them. I led them with cords of human kindness, with ties of love; I lifted the yoke from their neck and bent down to feed them.” (Hosea 11:3-4)

Before I was born again and became Christian, there were countless moments in my life where, looking back, I now realize God was providing for me and protecting me, although I didn’t know it. There were too many times where I should’ve ended up in a really bad situation, or even dead, but now in hindsight I realize that the Lord wasn’t done with me yet. (more…)

Held Down (Hosea 5:4)

“Their deeds do not permit them to return to their God. A spirit of prostitution is in their heart; they do not acknowledge the Lord.” (Hosea 5:4)

Sin is a terrible thing. It is rebellion against God and His statutes, it disrupts His original design for creation causing pain, anguish, and turmoil, and its penalty is death- not only physical, but spiritual. (more…)

For Your Sake (John 11:14)

“So then he told them plainly, ‘Lazarus is dead, and for your sake I am glad I was not there, so that you may believe.'” (John 11:14)

This morning I spoke to a co-worker and brother in Christ, who shared that he has gone through many life-threatening trials in his life due to several illnesses. As my wife goes through her own season of faith-stretching, Jesus gives me a wonderful reminder in John 11 that God can use suffering, even to the point of death, for our sake. (more…)

Some Things to Avoid (Proverbs 6:16-19)

“There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pour out lies, and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers.” (Prov. 6:16-19)

I don’t have much to add to this, other than it’s good to know what God detests so we can make sure to avoid doing or being those things! (more…)

Be A Blessing (Proverbs 3:3, 27)

“Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.” (Prov. 3:3)

“Do not withhold good from those who deserve it, when it is in your power to act.” (Prov. 3:27)

Before we start each day, I pray with the kids and ask God that He would help us to be a blessing to others that day; that we would be kind, gentle, generous, and loving, and that we would shine the light of Jesus wherever we go. I want to instill in them the focus on loving others before ourselves. (more…)
