I woke up this morning sort of frustrated, but God reminded me through His Word and His Spirit that He is sovereign and that all things happen in His timing and under His control.
I’m going to practice my own self-control and restraint in this post and not actually mention what was frustrating me, but the story of Gideon in Judges 6 definitely spoke to me in ways that reminded me that He is patient and gracious with us through all of our humanity, blindness, and ignorance. “Though the Lord is on high, he looks upon the lowly, but the proud he knows from afar. Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life; you stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes, with your right hand you save me. The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your love, O Lord, endures forever- do not abandon the works of your hands.” (Psa. 138:6-8)
Although my family is going through a worrisome situation with my wife’s health right now, the Lord is faithful to send daily reminders through His Word that He is walking with us, and will not leave us nor forsake us! (more…)
“I lift up my eyes to the hills— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip— he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you— the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.” (Psa. 121:1-8)
This is such a perfect passage for my family and I based on a pretty serious medical situation that came up yesterday. (more…)
