One thing I was just thinking about right now is that I feel like there is so much kingdom-work to be done, even in what God is calling me to do personally. People, reading in the book of Matthew again is SO SO GOOD! In just these first 8 chapters alone, there is so much meat and so many truths and so much wisdom and so much JESUS. It’s really awesome… ya’ll should try it. 😉 But anyway, at the end of chapter 8, this little encounter with Jesus stood out to me this morning.
Imagine going to a restaurant with your spouse, fiancé, or boyfriend/girlfriend. As they sit across from you, you order a delicious entree of your favorite food. You carefully select each part of the meal, making sure it has a mixture of all of the things you really like. These two chapters of Haggai really hit me when I read them, and I think they’re VERY applicable to all of us, even though this happened over 2,500 years ago. God was speaking through the prophet Haggai to the nation of Israel about rebuilding the temple.
I wanted to share my interpretation from what He was saying to the people at that time to what I believe He’s saying to us today. I may be completely wrong, so please offer me grace and ensure it aligns with your interpretation of Scripture, or you can just throw it out. Last warning is that the inner voice in my head sounds slightly “hood” if you know what I mean, so I also apologize for that… that’s just what the voice in my head often sounds like LOL. (more…)
There’s something I heard from a friend recently that bothered me. There are people who are actually discouraged from being around other Christians, because the Christians SEEM like they’re perfect.
In her words regarding several Christian families she met, she said, “You all have the perfect families, the perfect spouses, the perfect marriages, the perfect children, the perfect homes, and even the perfect dogs!” It pains me that we as Christians can give off that type of vibe, because we’re absolutely broken and shattered people, in need of a Savior.
