His Purpose > Our Plans (Proverbs 16:4, 19 & Proverbs 19:19)

“Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” (Prov. 19:19)

God is sovereign. He is in control of everything. Everything in creation moves at His direction, yet at the same time He gives us free will, that we may love Him according to our own heart. What a beautiful mystery! (more…)

All Eyes On You (Proverbs 15:3)

“The eyes of the Lord are everywhere, keeping watch on the wicked and the good.” (Prov. 15:3)

When I first heard this verse a long time ago, it made me think of a parent or teacher who constantly has their eyes on you. You know what they say about parents when it comes to their children and misbehaving– don’t do anything bad because parents “have eyes in the back of their head.” So it made me think of God sitting there watching us, just waiting for us to to make a mistake. Sound Advice (Proverbs 12:5)

“The plans of the righteous are just, but the advice of the wicked is deceitful.” (Prov. 12:5)

I often have the opportunity to give advice to people. For whatever reason, people tend to come to me (for better or worse!) to seek counsel, and if you take a look at your daily interactions and relationships, you may find yourself in the same situation. (more…)

Seek God (Jeremiah 29:13)

“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” (Jer. 29:13)

There are many people in this world who claim to have no evidence of God in their lives or in this world. Furthermore, there are those who may believe in God, but don’t have a healthy and flouring relationship with Him. Why is that? (more…)
