“Let them praise the name of the Lord, for he commanded and they were created. He set them in place for ever and ever; he gave a decree that will never pass away.” (Psa. 148:5-6)
I’ve mentioned before that God created us to worship. Did you know that He also created us to give Him praise?
From the heavens…in the heights above…all his angels…the sun, moon, and stars, the highest heavens and waters above the skies…the earth, great sea creatures, and ocean depths… lightning, hail, snow and clouds, and stormy winds… mountains, hills, fruit trees and cedars… wild animals, cattle, small creatures, and flying birds… kings of the earth, all nations, princes, and all rulers on earth… young men and women, and old men and children…
LET THEM PRAISE THE NAME OF THE LORD (Psa. 148 1-4, 7-13)
Well that about covers all of creation, and all of creation has been given a decree that will never pass away- “LET THEM PRAISE THE NAME OF THE LORD.”
God, in all His splendor, power, and beauty, spoke a command; and from it the world and all we know (and yet do not know), were created! He has set the universe into place, and all things into motion. From the heavens above to the earth below, He has given us life and established our position; and because of our relationship to Him as our Creator and Abba Father, our praise should flow!
God has fearfully and wonderfully made each of us as individuals (Psa. 139:14), and yet has designed a beautiful symphony of creation in which all pieces join together to bring Him praise. Yet we currently live in a fallen world mired in sin, in which not all parts of the orchestra are playing in rhythm and harmony.
What has been your role in this symphony of praise? Have you taken your chair and tuned your instrument? Is your spirit playing in accord with His creation to the Composer’s song, or are you playing to the beat of your own drum?
If you feel discord in your life and are spiritually unsettled due to a disconnect with the Lord, then you likely have your answer. Peace lies with those who fear God and live a life of worship. Turn to the Word of God as your sheet music and the Holy Spirit as your conductor, and join back into the chorus of praise!
“Let them praise the name of the Lord, for his name alone is exalted; his splendor is above the earth and the heavens.” (Psa. 148:13)
