“Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.” (Psa. 143:8)

David was crying out in the midst of despair, hopelessness, and depression. He prayed to the Lord for deliverance from his enemies, and also for divine guidance- not that he would do his own will, but that the Lord would be the one to lead him and give him hope for His Name’s sake.

Regardless of what David’s or any of our circumstances are, God is fully present and with us. God loves us more than we will ever be able to understand by our limited human capacity. When our spiritual eyes are set upon Him and our hearts are turned towards Him, we’ll recognize that every single morning brings fresh new reminders of His unfailing love for us!

I urge each of us to be like David and to turn our attention fully towards the Lord in all things. When we seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, He will not only provide for our needs, but He will also show us the way to go.

Heavenly Father, as we lift up our souls to You, teach us to do Your will, and may Your good Spirit lead us on level ground. Amen!
