“Praise be to the Lord, who has not let us be torn by their teeth. We have escaped like a bird out of the fowler’s snare; the snare has been broken, and we have escaped. Our help is in the name of the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” (Psa. 124:6-8)
Amen! God delivers his children from that which seeks to destroy us, whether they be earthly or spiritual enemies. David draws an analogy to a bird trapped in a snare… when we turn to the Lord, He makes a way out!
We can turn to the One who created heaven and earth in our times of need— He is where our help comes from. No matter what we may be going through, Christ has already given us the ultimate victory!
As I’m writing this, the bridge of the song “Praise You In This Storm” by Casting Crowns is playing in my mind. It’s a mixture of phrases from Psa. 121 and 124 (and I’m sure many others), which both have spoken to me in the last couple of days:
🎵 “I lift my eyes unto the hills
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord
The maker of Heaven and Earth.”🎵
In both times of need and times of thanksgiving, let us praise the Lord! He lovingly affirms us through his Word and comforts us by his Holy Spirit, and is reminding me today that He is certainly my Deliverer.
