“He does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.” (Psa. 103:10)
This is the definition of God’s mercy, captured in a verse! I can’t even imagine if God actually gave me what I deserved… that would be quite the horror story for me.
But because He is love, He chose to give us both grace and mercy. Because of His goodness, He gave us the gift of salvation through His Son, and withheld the wrath of His judgment.
Let’s not fail to recognize and thank God daily, for blessing us so abundantly with these precious gifts that we don’t deserve nor can never earn no matter what we do.
As a father, I want to provide for and bless my children with good gifts. Matthew 7:11 reminds us that if even we do that as inherently sinful humans, how much more will our good Father in heaven do that for us! That’s something to praise the Lord for every day of our lives!
“He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?” (Rom. 8:32)
