“In the beginning you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment. Like clothing you will change them and they will be discarded. But you remain the same, and your years will never end.” (Psa. 102:25-26)
The hot topic going on at my company today is that they started laying off tons of people yesterday. As the week progresses, it remains to be seen what will even happen to my position, as hundreds in my immediate organization have already been impacted. Regardless, I have the utmost peace as I know that God is ultimately in control!
Reading this verse today, it reminds me that everything on earth is fleeting and temporary. Our current employment is the least of it… our entire earthly lives are like a vapor that comes and goes. (James 4:14)
I know that this week may be rough for a lot of my team, as the climate will be somber at work for a while. But I love the encouragement from the Lord, that although our lives and circumstances can change in the blink of an eye, our God remains the same! He already knows exactly what is going to happen and the path that He’s laid for His glory and the benefit of His children!
We all know people in our lives who are sick, unemployed, and in other tough situations. Let’s strive to be a beacon of light, hope, and comfort to them by the power of the Holy Spirit, and love on them with the love of Christ this week!
Praise God, our Father and Creator, that holds heaven, earth, and our futures, in His good, good hands! Amen!
