“Lord, you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations. Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.” (Psa. 90:1-2, Moses)
Moses must have been thinking back to his conversation with God at the scene of the burning bush when he wrote that part of his prayer.
“Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell them?”
God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” (Exod. 3:13-14)
As Christians, these verses should give us hope! God is infinite, limitless, never ending, unchanging, and constant. He has no beginning or end, as He IS the Alpha and the Omega. He intimately knows every detail about us, about our lives, about our past, present, and future.
So when we put our trust, faith, and hope in Him, we are putting them in the hands of Someone who can and will never fail nor forsake us, because of what Jesus did for us on the cross of Calvary. Our assurance of His promises and spiritual blessings are eternal, because He is eternal!
Take time today to reflect on the boundless majesty and wonder of God, and as you do, realize that the same God that strengthened and equipped the Bible saints centuries ago, is the same God who stands by our side today.
As the Lord said to Joshua as he was preparing for the journey into the Promise Land:
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Josh. 1:9)
He offers us this same promise as we walk in obedience to Him as well. Amen!
